🎭 Audition Role Limit – Please Read

To ensure we have enough time to see everyone fairly, this year the production team is setting a limit of two roles per person for audition pieces. Don’t worry—this doesn’t mean you won’t be considered for other roles. It simply helps us manage time effectively during the audition process.

There’s a section on the audition form where you can indicate any additional characters you’d like to be considered for. The creative team will take all preferences into account when casting.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation—we want to give everyone the best possible chance to shine!

If any role does not get filled on audition day, another date has been put in place for recalls which will take place on the 30th September.

The audition panel reserve the right to offer parts to those who they feel suit a role, even if it is not a role that person has auditioned for.

If you are unable to attend the audition date due to personal reasons but would like to audition for a part, please inform the Production Manager as soon as reasonably possible so that we can facilitate you.

You may be asked to read in for parts on the day of auditions, please do not worry this just gives the panel an overall view of the roles.

 ðŸŽ¶ Notes on Casting

  • Strong rock/Buddy vocal ability is essential for principal roles.
  • Dance and movement are important for ensemble roles like Ga Ga Kids and Bohemians.
  • Many characters are parodies or references to real rock icons—embrace boldness and personality.

Tips for Auditioning for We Will Rock You

Vocal Technique:

Since We Will Rock You involves a lot of rock-style singing, it’s important to have a strong vocal technique, especially if you’re auditioning for any of the lead or villain roles. The ability to belt and sustain high notes with power is a must!

Character Understanding:

The show is all about big personalities, so make sure your audition demonstrates an understanding of the character you’re portraying. Whether it’s the defiant Scaramouche or the confident Killer Queen, aim to bring a larger-than-life performance to your audition.

Stage Presence:

This show is high-energy, so bring your enthusiasm and dynamism to your workshops and audition. The cast members often interact with one another on stage, so a commanding stage presence will help your audition stand out.

Perform with Energy:

This is a rock musical, so don’t hold back! Channel the spirit of the music and the character you’re auditioning for with full commitment and confidence.

Notes about Auditions

Dialogue Auditions

·       We have provided the page numbers and the characters that are to audition on those pages. This will let the production team see a scene with numerous characters working together. This will also help you see what kind of audition you need to do for that scene depending which character you are interested in.

·       If you are looking at more than one character in a scene, we will run it again with different people taking on different roles. However, you may not read in for all the scenes.

·       We may also ask people to read in for other characters throughout auditions.

·       Please make sure you read the scenes before auditioning to give yourself a good idea of how to play the character. You are able to use your lib for auditions.

Vocal Auditions

·       Everyone is required to attend the vocal workshop on 16th or 23rd September (as appropriate) and this forms part of the audition process.

·       Please think about where the song comes into the story to give you an idea how the song needs to be performed.

·       During the audition the panel may ask you to stop before the end of the song you are performing, please take this as a compliment, but please don’t stop unless you are asked to, thank you.

Dance Auditions

·       Due to the high intensity of the dances this year, Jason will be holding a dance audition which everyone is expected to attend if you wish to be in this production.

·       The audition will take place in small groups, depending on numbers.

·       We are not expecting perfection, we are looking for potential. Be confident, do your best and have fun with it!
