RMTC win at 2016 NODA Awards

We’re ecstatic to announce that RMTC triumphed at yesterday’s NODA Annual Awards Ceremony at the Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar.

Alex Sangster, who played Bobby so memorably in last year’s inaugural Summer Fringe production of Sondheim’s Company was awarded Highly Commended in the category for Best Male in a Musical – coming third in a hotly contested category of 13 nominees. Putting this in perspective, Alex had already been nominated as the Winner of District 10 in this category and to come third from a region which stretches from Oxford to Wimbledon, Abingdon to Croydon and Ilford to Bromley is a huge achievement. We are hugely proud of him and his wonderful performance – we look forward to having him perform with us again soon.

We’d like to share in our Avenue Q star and new member, Dawn Travell’s success. Dawn was nominated from District 10 for her performance as Sylvia the dog in Potters Bar Theatre Company’s comic play Sylvia and she beat all other contenders to snatch the title of Best Female Character in a Play. Brilliant news Dawn – we can’t wait to see you on stage at Edge Grove in July!

Last, but by no means least, an award for us all. Every year the NODA Representatives for their respective regions are allowed to give one award within their District to a Society which has provided an “Inspirational Contribution to the Pursuit of Excellence in Theatre”. This year for District 10 the Councillor for the London Region has awarded this award to RMTC! Her commendation reads as follows:

“Over the last eighteen months RLOS have moved forward in a way that has embraced re-naming, modernising, undertaking additional fundraising and “fringe-style” productions. They have striven hard to forge a new identity to ensure continuance and provide a legacy for the future. Congratulations to RLOS for the future as Radlett Musical Theatre Company!!”

This is an award for all of us, not only those who have performed on stage with the Society over the past 18 months, or those who have worked tirelessly to support the Society back stage, but to all those members, Patrons and Friends who continue to support us.

Let us continue to embrace the future as RMTC and continue to pursue excellence in all that we do.
